Forest Stewardship Plans for the Colorado State Forest Service Forest Ag Program
New plans, updates or revisions. Landowners with at least 40 forested acres who agree to implement a stewardship plan and produce tangible forest products may be recommended for reduced tax rates.
Forest Management Plans for the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) administered by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
This voluntary conservation program provides technical and financial assistance for landowners who agree to install management practices to improve the health and productivity of their forest. There is no acreage limitation as there is with the Forest Ag Program above.
The Forest Ag Program and the EQIP Program are usually compatible.
Landowners who qualify for both participate in the benefits of both programs.
Insect and disease detection surveys for any size property
Find and treat insect (e.g., mountain pine beetle) and disease (e.g., dwarf mistletoe) issues before they become unmanagable.
Hazard Tree Examination
Identify trees that pose a hazard to structures and people before the tree fails.
Home Ignition Zone Hazard Assessments
An examination of the home ignition zone using National Fire Protection Association Standard, NFPA 1144, will identify those steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of ignition caused by wildfire in the vicinity. NFPA 1144 is the guidance underlying the FireWise advice that you may have heard of.
